everything's shocking

it is very dry out here in the desert. literally almost every single time you touch something you get shocked. blue sparks if the lights are out. the most fun is petting the cats. they turn into a bowl of rice krispie treats. and i think they like it.

looking at the positives

locations for taking a nap outside in the backyard in mid-december. minneapolis? nope. las vegas? yep.

my winnings so far

it's not a lot but it is still thrilling to put a $1 bill in a machine, press a button, and get $75 back. Apparently money is free in this city. I think I will stop while I am ahead.

so las vegas

Just because we live here does not mean that we hit the casinos every night. However, we still can't manage to miss out on that sin city charm. For example, the Liberace Museum (liberace is pictured above for your viewing pleasure) is right across the street from where I work. It's great to see his smiling face every day as I turn in to work. What a treat. And Zach had his first client meeting today. The client? Mr. Wayne Newton himself.

zach's new toy.

Zach just bought a ping pong paddle for $35 to use at work. He is pretty fascinated by it. I suppose this is how you advance in advertising.

home sweet home

so, currently in las vegas . . . . zach, tracy, sadie (aka cwazy), woogie (aka boogie butt), and stinker (aka stinker) have all arrived safely at their new home in the west. and what a home it is. lovely view of the red rock canyon from the balcony, cute little fountain in the backyard, etc.

Saw a fantastic band on Wednesday. At a Casino. Of course. They called themselves the Spasmatics. Dressed as total nerds they covered every beloved 80's song you can think of. They were great. The dance floor filled up immediately. The mystery of who will play our wedding is now solved. Just kidding. Well . . . hmmm.

Thanksgiving was unusual, although not as unusual as the one spent with Katey Segal (Peg Bundy from Married With Children.) This Thanksgiving was spent with Zach's new work friends playing a fascinating game called Flip Cup. Its a challenging game - a race between 2 teams where cups are flipped after chugging beer in the cup. The next team member cannot begin chugging until you have successfully flipped the cup on the table. Sounds pretty boring but you would be surprised how the adrenalin can start pumping. I still don't know whose team won. So, missing out on the traditional Thanksgiving dinner made Zach and I crave it even more. Which is why the day after thanksgiving we made thanksgiving dinner of our own. Bought a fire pit for our little desert backyard, roasted marshmallows, looked at the stars, occasionally blinded by the moving spotlights over the vegas strip and then ate some turkey.

Monday we call Pest Control to spray the house. We just are not big fans of scorpions. Desert life is scary.

catfish and pancakes

today i made delicious pancakes. i sprinkled cinnamon in them before cooking and also added some caramel chocolate chips. then zach and i went on a walk over this little bridge over the mississippi. i love autumn. all these HUGE catfish were jumping out of the water like dolphins. then we took a nap in the grass and watched clouds. can't complain about this day.

MINNESOTA ROX!

can i love a city any more? i know what yer thinking "london, duh." yes, london is lovely. but how do i get a job over there? i know what yer thinking "you dont have a job there either." regardless. minnesota. who knew. i live here. today was totally awesome. we road bikes over to the warehouse district where our future loft of a home is and happened upon this amazing bike trail along the mississippi river. we went over all sorts of bridges - getting amazing views of the skyline. we rode for miles. bike trails everywhere. amazing weather (yes, i know it will get cold soon). but like lou reed has said, the day was indeed perfect.

6 ft under season finale. is there a better show out there?

my viewing experience was a bit awkward when the strange gay guy from across the hall walked into our apartment. we had never met him. he says his name is randall and sat down. he tried to talk to me while i was trying to watch the very last episode ever of 6 ft under. is he crazy?? i think he is bc i saw him a few minutes ago on the elevator and he had no clue who i was. strangers are strange.
